As seen from Source A, I can infer that life in Singapore was harsh and poor as seen from the picture in the source, it shows a baby boy left in the middle of nowhere, without his parents and is in the state of crying. This shows that when the Japanese launched their attack on Singapore, many closed ones and relatives were killed, leaving their children as orphans and at a loss, not knowing what to do as they are young. Therefore, life in Singapore during the japanese occupation was terrible and people were suffering.
In addition, from Source A, I can also infer that life under Japanese rule was full of atrocity as the houses surrounding the baby boy are destroyed and in poor condition, and also the place full of broken pieces. This shows that the houses were damaged and not suitable for the people to live in, people were homeless and had no where to go, or even families being burned in the houses together. Thus, the Japanese has caused life in Singapore during the occupation to be meaningless and horrible.
This is consistent with my contextual knowledge that the Japanese occupation caused lots of lives being lost and homes being shattered, resulting in the harsh lives people face.

Firstly, I would like to define what is ïmpact of external events". It can mean the direct effect from the events that happened externally. Therefore, I would like to illustrate the event that happened recently which is H1N1. From the source, News.XinhuaNet,I can infer that the impact on Mexico is really great as seen from the provenance of the source, Over 70,000 cases of A/H1N1 flu confirmed in Mexico. The numbers of the confirmed cases are increasing since the past year when the flu first broke out in Mexico and as quoted, "including 1,1o8 deaths" . The huge number of deaths struck the people in Mexico and there is chaos in the country. The impact on the people was severe as people are living in fear that the illness may be spread to them anytime and they worry for their families for they are in danger as well. This illness has also spread to the entire world, and the world is currently in a crisis.
